Southampton City Council knows the importance of a dynamic, well functioning children's social work service and is investing new resources to enable children's services to meet the needs of the most vulnerable children and families in the City.
Our Children in Need team are expanding to ensure good practice and manageable caseloads. They are linked to localitites to enable integrated, joined up working. Southampton puts a high priority on good supervision, training and team support.
Children in Need teams receive all the new referrals for the City of Southampton. They undertake initial and core assessments and section 47 enquiries and provide and co-ordinate services to families. As a social worker in one of these teams you would be part of a supportive, settled team which is committed to undertaking prompt, good quality assessments to ensure children and young people's needs are appropriately identified and their needs met.
All new staff receive an induction programme and regular supervision. Newly qualified social workers have a special NQSW programme which includes protected caseloads and additional reflective supervision.
Applicants need to be with at least two years post qualifying experience.
