As a result of an extensive service review and a management re-Structure a vacancy has been identified within the Street Scene Section for a Senior Supervisor.

Working in one of the newly created National Parks in an area of outstanding natural beauty the population of 165,000 is boosted annually by several million day and long stay visitors. The main responsibilities will be to take day to day operational control of all street cleansing and building cleaning operations with over 80 full and part time staff. Other areas of responsibility are the planned and routine maintenance of 26 public conveniences.

Working with the Street Scene Manager you will also be required to assist in the Enforcement of Environmental Crime such as fly-tipping, littering and abandoned vehicles.

Applicants must have experience in working in a similar Street Scene role as well as some enforcement experience and good communication skills. Good all round people management skills with at least 5 years’ experience of managing an operational team is essential as this role is responsible for the day to day supervision of a diverse work force of full and part-time employees and as well as contractors.

An NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject area is required as is full knowledge of COSHH and the Health & Safety at Work Act. Applicants must also have a full driving license. The successful applicant would ideally have some knowledge of Waste Management and Clean Neighbourhoods legislation and be a member of CIWM. Basic building construction and maintenance knowledge would also be an advantage.

The post covers a diverse area of responsibility; therefore training in certain aspects of the post will be available for the successful applicant.
