Philosophy Teacher based in North London. Our client, a Sixth Form College, is looking to recruit teacher of Philosophy to teach on AS and A2 courses. This is a temporary contract to cover a maternity absence from Autumn 2010 – June 2011.

Experience / Qualifications

It is essential that candidates will possess the following:

• Qualification to degree level in a relevant subject area
• A recognised teaching qualification
• Ability to teach Philosophy at AS/A2 level and Critical Thinking at AS level.
• Ability to employ a range of teaching strategies and to support students in the promotion of high quality learning.
• An understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities and diversity in practice
• A commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people

Personal Qualities:

• Good communication skills.
• Energy, commitment and enthusiasm.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Good interpersonal skills / team working.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience of teaching Philosophy at least to AS level
• Experience of acting as a personal tutor to post-16 age group
• Experience of teaching Critical Thinking at AS level
• Good ICT  skills

Hours are Negotiable.
