Our client, a Further Education College specialising in land-based training, is looking to recruit
a part time Marketing Assistant to assist with the implementation of the College’s marketing operations and with maintaining the College’s profile locally, regionally and nationally with a view to recruiting and retaining students at our centres across London. 

About the College

Capel Manor College based in Greater London, is a Centre of Vocational Excellence for Horticulture, Landscaping and Garden Design, Floristry, Business Enterprise, Animal Care and Saddlery.

Description of duties

Reporting to the Marketing and Publicity Coordinator, main duties and responsibilities:

  • To assist with production of copy for a range of promotional materials and website content.
  • To assist with the placement of advertising, liaising with a range of media contacts and including organising creative input.
  • To liaise with print suppliers and graphic designers on the design and production of promotional materials, including course literature, leaflets and display materials.
  • To assist in the collation/production of material for press releases and website news.
  • To assist in maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of website content.
  • To undertake ad hoc digital photography of student activities and events. 
  • To maintain a news clippings file of local press stories about the College and its competitors.
  • To support promotional activity with secondary schools.
  • To carry out a range of administrative tasks including word processing and filing.
  • To undertake data inputting to assist in the production of statistics in relation to the College’s marketing activity. 
  • To respond to marketing queries in the absence of the Marketing & Publicity Coordinator.
  • To undertake special projects under the direction of the Marketing & Publicity Coordinator.
  • To undertake any other duties of a comparable nature.

Experience / Qualifications

Successful candidates will need the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:

  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in Business Administration
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • Experience of working in an administrative environment
  • Experience of managing email communications
  • Substantial experience of using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Experience of copy writing
  • Experience of media and print buying
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good telephone manner
  • Highly effective personal communication skills
  • Flexibility and responsiveness
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Good project management skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative and calmly under pressure
  • Conscientious approach to work with excellent attention to detail

It is desirable for candidates to possess:

  • Good level of general education to level 3
  • Experience of working in a marketing role/customer service role or similar
  • Experience of working in a further education or training organisation

Start Date: ASAP         

Hours: 25 hours pw, five days a week.

Closing date: 10.5.10
